Build Day 8 Another truss and some sheathing
Build Day 8 Another truss and some sheathing
Even though the date of this post says 11/26, its actually almost two weeks into December. Sorry I fell behind on the posts!
The big news is that the boat is gone!

Thanks, Bill! If anyone out there needs tree work done, Bill is top-notch. You can call him at (727) 522-TREE. Tell him you got his number here and he will probably give you some sort of discount. However, if he wants to leave a boat in your yard for "a week, two at the most", Id advise against it.
We got the end truss on the west side of the shed up today. We also put some sheathing on the same side. The sheathing is a particle board version of T-1-11 (T one eleven?). It was about $15.00 a sheet, which was consiberably less than what we planned. And it came primed already. I dont know that I would want to use it on the side of my house, but for the shed it seems to be working out just fine so far.

On the inside of the end truss we put a 2x6 across and attached it with braces. The truss itself is braced as well. The 2x6 provides some support for the truss and will also be part of what we nail the loft floor too.

Here is a picture of the truss we didnt get up yet.

Ron did some fancy joints. I dont know why. Everytime I ask about it he shakes his head and says something about them being backwards. I think they look cool, so heres a picture.

Ron did a lot of work at home between build days. In addition to framing in the end trusses so we have something to nail the sheathing to, he also built some rakes.

These will go along the roof line on either end and will allow the roof to overhang the ends of the shed by about a foot. Apparntly there are several ways to accomplish this. We decided that pre-building them and lifting them into place whould be the easiest thing. Well see.
