Model Home Tour

When I was a little girl about  5 years old, my mother took me to see a few model homes in an upscale neighborhood near our home.  My mom enjoyed visiting them and I had fun going with her. Maybe thats why Ive always loved visiting model homes.

Since were planning on downsizing, I thought wed take a little excursion last Saturday to look at a couple of new neighborhoods just over the state line in South Carolina.
Id really love to buy an older home and have it remodeled, but were open to buying a new home, as well.

The second neighborhood we went to had a model home that was decorated beautifully.
This home was the same size as our top two floors, and the house was a little too large for what we are looking for, but we still enjoyed the tour.
Here in the Great Room, it was interesting to notice that a fireplace was optional. Even though we dont use ours in our Family Room, Id still opt for one.

Of course, the kitchen was open concept.

The Master Bedroom was right off the Great Room; we definitely want a Master Bedroom on the main floor again. The Master Bath was nice, but nothing special.

One thing I really liked about the floorplans for this company is that you walk into a hallway from the garage. Love this space to drop coats and purses.  The laundry room was to the left and a powder room was to the right.

There was a formal dining room, small living room and even an office up front. The office was an option. We could do without the living room and office.

Upstairs, there were three bedrooms and a bonus. I loved the wall treatment on the accent walls in each of the bedrooms.

There was a Jack & Jill Bathroom between these two bedrooms.

Thats the comfiest bean bag chair Ive ever seen.

The upstairs hallway was really wide and this bookcase was a beautiful option.

This bedroom was my favorite and would be perfect for guests.

Last, but not least, was a Bonus Room. Again, I love the built ins. The Bonus Room and the Guest Bedroom had another Jack & Jill bathroom between them.

This house was really lovely, but it had about 3 rooms too many and about 700 square feet too much for us. I think were going to have a tough time finding a 2500 square foot house with a Master Bedroom on the main floor or a 2500 square foot ranch house because all the houses theyre building in this area are either too large or too small.
Were not quite ready for a small house yet. Maybe the next one.
So, whats your perfect size house?

Pam
