Most of you know that were working (slowly) on getting the house ready to put on the market. We were hoping for this summer, but it now looks like its not going to be until next Spring.
One of the rooms Ive been working on (slowly) is the guest room. Its the first bedroom you see when you go upstairs and I wanted it to look good. The colors were dated and since we needed to make room for a special treasure from my mother in laws estate, the dark furniture had to go, especially because we were lightening things up.
Well, whenever you update a room, artwork that was trendy way back when, doesnt look so good with the new decor.
I was just going to put it out with the garage sale last Spring, but Im sure I would have only gotten $5 for it and new artwork would cost about $75+ and forever for me to find. The artwork is the perfect size and shape for the space between the windows, so...

I decided to paint over it and create something new.

I painted the front with latex semi-gloss paint, left the black part and painted the edge gold to go with some other accents in the new decor.

Then I started painting....

Hmmm, not loving it...

I just kept painting and mixing up different colors....Still not loving it.

Heres the final product. It didnt cost me anything, so I wont feel bad if I dont have a place for it in the new house...that is, if we ever move!

Heres what our guest room with the old artwork looked like before... Youll have to come back next week to see how it looks now.

PS...This reno didnt cost me anything....I actually had a net gain...
Hope youll stop by next week to find out how.
