Build Day 7 The trusses are up!
We got all but two of the trusses up today. The two end ones didnt go up yet. Ron is going to cut the sheeting for them before they go up because it will be easier to do while they are still down. The shed looks like it is wearing a hat that is too small.
Heres a closer look. We temporarily nailed some wood across them for support.
Getting the trusses up wasnt as hard as I thought it would be. The brackets we put up held them in place until we could put nails in them. If it had been a more windy day it would have caused us some problems, but weve been pretty lucky weather-wise so far.
In the picture below you can see the extra 2x6s we nailed up. This is where the access to the loft is going to be. Part of the truss you see in the middle will get cut out eventually. You can also see some shorter pieces of 2x6 we toe nailed between the trusses. While I imagine this provides some structural strength, that isnt why they are there. Those are just going to be nailer boards for when we install the floor of the loft.
